WATERLINES

CFS provides long-term solutions to improve or extend waterlines to meet the needs of the community. Our civil engineers have conducted full-scale waterline replacement projects for entire communities and provide modeling expertise to help municipalities plan for ongoing improvements to their systems. We help our clients manage aging infrastructure, increase system capacity, minimize the potential for water main breaks, and reduce contamination of potable water sources to ensure longevity of the system. We maintain close relationships with regulatory agencies in order to keep our clients informed on all drinking water regulations.

PROJECTS

Maplewoods Parkway Waterline Kansas City, Missouri

The Maplewoods Parkway Water Line Project was completed in 2020 for the City of Kansas City, MO Water Services Department in conjunction with the Maplewoods Parkway roadway improvements. The project was approximately 1.8 miles long from NE 96th Street Northward past Staley Farms and the new Staley High School to Shoal Creek Parkway.  The project included the following:

» 142 LF of 8” Water Main

» 663 LF of 12” Water Main

» 3,211 LF of 16” Water Main

» 1,012 LF of 30” Water Main

» 11 Fire Hydrants

» 33 Valves

CFS Engineers was responsible for Project Management, Utility Coordination, Water Line Easement/Right of Way document preparation and coordination, Water Line Design and Plan Preparation, and Project Cost Estimation.

Spirit of 76 Watermain Project
Branson, Missouri

CFS prepared plans for a proposed 12-inch water line on the north and south side of Route 76 for 5 miles west of Highway 65 (west of downtown Branson). The project replaces the existing 8-inch water line along the north side of Route 76. Construction documents were completed for phase 1 of the project with construction completed in Spring of 2017.

CFS was responsible for all aspects of project coordination, including survey, utility coordination, easement and right-of-way document preparation and coordination, water line design and plan preparation and project cost estimation.

Additional Waterline Projects

» 14th Street | Winchester Road to Maple Street  Eudora, Kansas

This project included included 4,000 LF of new 12” waterline installed from the water tower at 14th & Maple to the west to improve pressure and flow to the west side of the City. Design included installation of bends, crosses, tees, valves, reducers, anchor couplings, fire hydrants, connects to the surrounding system as well as development of easement documents, staking and inspection of the installation.

» Kasold Drive Waterline Improvements  Lawrence, Kansas

This project included the complete reconstruction of over a mile long major arterial from 6th Street to Bob Billings Parkway surrounded by established residential and commercial areas. In addition to roadway design, waterline plans included full 12” main replacement and relocation of the existing waterline through the fully developed area. Design included replacement of all existing services along the alignment, installation of bends, tees, valves, reducers, anchor couplings, fire hydrants, caps/plugs, backflow preventer & vault, reconnection of existing fire hydrants, and installation of waterline by directional drilling.

» Wanamaker Road | 4th to 10th Street  Topeka, Kansas

This project included construction of 1,700 LF of 12” PVC water main along Wanamaker Road from SW 4th Street to SW 10th Street. This project included complete street pavement replacement and storm sewer replacement. Hydrants, temporary hydrants, meters, valves, and all other appurtenances were included in bid estimates for accurate project budget planning. A localized high spot was unavoidable in the design due to existing tie-in points and cover requirements, thus a 1” Air-Release Valve and enclosure was included at this location.
