JOB Summary

CFS Engineers is seeking a Transportation Engineer with at least four years of experience in roadway and traffic engineering. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving transportation challenges, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to projects that improve mobility and safety in our communities. You’ll support project managers, participate in client discussions, and take ownership of technical tasks as you continue to grow toward senior‑level expertise.

DUTIES / Responsibilities

  • Perform roadway and traffic engineering design tasks, including geometric design, traffic operations analysis, safety reviews, and corridor studies.

  • Prepare plans, specifications, reports, and supporting documentation for municipal, county, and state transportation projects.

  • Participate in client meetings to discuss project needs, present technical findings, and support project coordination.

  • Conduct traffic modeling, capacity analysis, and safety assessments using industry‑standard tools.

  • Collaborate with project managers and senior engineers to develop design approaches, project scopes, and work plans.

  • Assist with quality control reviews to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable standards.

  • Support proposal development through technical input and level‑of‑effort estimates.

  • Maintain strong working relationships with clients, partners, and internal team members.

Required and/or Preferred Skills/Abilities

  • Valid driver’s license required.

  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and navigate active construction sites.

  • Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification required; ability to obtain PE licensure is strongly preferred.

  • Proficiency with transportation design and analysis tools such as MicroStation, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Synchro, HCS, or similar platforms.

  • Solid understanding of transportation planning, traffic operations, and roadway design principles.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to clients and team members.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • 4+ years of experience in roadway and/or traffic engineering.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
