Survey Party Chief

• Collaborate closely with Survey Manager along with the survey & design team to ensure scope is well understood and performed to project specifications.

• Perform office and field calculations.

• Interpret drawings and perform construction layout for commercial, industrial, public and private infrastructure projects.

• Conduct field surveying and data collection for a variety of survey projects.

• Ensure all work complies with industry standards and internal quality control procedures.

• Maintain and submit field records and documents that are complete and detailed for accurate data processing.

• Oversee topographic, boundary, ALTA, and right-of-way with occasional construction layout.

• Communicate project status updates and promptly report any field issues to the Survey Manager.

• Plan, organize, direct the work of field crew(s).

• Demonstrate ability to learn new techniques, receive and give constructive feedback while strengthening professional development.

• Strong client management experience.

• Perform other duties as assigned to support the office and project success.

Required and/or Preferred Skills/Abilities

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

• Must be a self-motivated, autonomous worker.

• Ability to work outdoors in the elements for prolonged periods of time in a wide range of weather conditions.

• Ability to effectively and safely move on foot through active construction sites and undeveloped ground, uneven terrain and wooded sections of ground.

• Occasional in-state travel required – approximately 20-30% of your work week as needed.   

• Excellent time management, communication, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

• Flexibility with changing project schedules, overtime, and workload demands.

• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

• Strong math and analytical skills, with the ability to learn new surveying software.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

• Required experience:  2-5 yrs Party Chief experience.

• Required education: HS diploma or GED.

• Required experience with construction staking, boundary surveys, topography surveys, and ALTA surveys.

• Working knowledge of GPS and conventional survey instruments.

• Working knowledge of AutoCAD a plus.

• DOT Standards of Care and procedures a plus.
