Shaw Elk Road & bridge

Neosho County, Kansas

The Shaw-Elk Road project spanned 3 miles between 160th and 35th Parkway and 11 miles of 160th (Shaw Road) between Elk Road and US 59. The scope included the total replacement of both the Turkey Creek Bridge and the Neosho River Bridge. The Neosho River bridge is a 100’-125’-140’-125’-100' welded plate girder structure with a 32' roadway, skewed 30 degrees, and supported by drilled shafts. Additionally, CFS conducted a study on the Canville Creek Bridge to assess the need for either replacement or repair.

For this 14-mile project, which included the two new bridge replacements, CFS provided design surveys, section corners, and field check plans. CFS's responsibilities also included right-of-way plans, legal descriptions, field-check cost estimates, and coordination of meetings with Neosho County, the City of Chanute, the steering committee, and KDOT.
