Lee's SUmmit Road
Anderson to Lakewood
Kansas City, Missouri
This reconstruction project of Lee’s Summit Road from Anderson to Lakewood Boulevard is a significant upgrade that will bring numerous benefits to the community. The current 24-foot urban roadway, which features a 4-foot shoulder and open ditches, will be transformed into an urban arterial extending from US 40 Highway to Douglas in Lee’s Summit. This will improve local infrastructure and accommodate projected traffic through Eastern Kansas City, Lee’s Summit, and an unincorporated segment of Jackson County, fostering a sense of progress and development in the area.
The new roadway is the result of meticulous planning and design. It will be a three-lane roadway, incorporating a Northbound Lane (NBL), Southbound Lane (SBL), and a center turn lane, complete with bike lanes, curbs, and gutters. Storm sewers will be constructed to collect drainage across this mostly impervious area and discharge it into an oxbow formed by the Little Blue River.
To ensure efficient water management and minimize environmental impact, horizontal alignment modifications have been made to avoid a cemetery. The vertical alignment follows the existing road, and retaining walls will be constructed to minimize right-of-way acquisition.
CFS prepared plans and construction documents to improve the roadway. In addition to the roadway reconstruction, CFS also designed a 10-inch water distribution line and a 24-inch water transmission line.
