JOB Summary

The Civil Engineer Field Technician supports engineers and project managers by performing fieldwork, collecting data, and assisting with the execution of civil engineering projects. This role bridges office and field operations, ensuring accurate information flows into design, construction, and documentation processes. The position requires a high attention to detail, comfort working outdoors, and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and survey teams.

DUTIES / Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site testing of materials such as soil, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates as needed

  • Document field conditions accurately and maintain organized records for engineering review.

  • Support the preparation of survey maps, drawings, and project documentation

  • Maintain field equipment, ensure proper calibration, and follow all safety protocols.

  • Communicate effectively with engineers, project managers, and survey teams to ensure accurate and timely information flow.

  • Travel to project sites and work in various terrains and weather conditions as required.

Required and/or Preferred Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and transfer concrete via wheel barrel on construction job sites

  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and technical documents

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions and travel to job sites.

  • Valid driver’s license required.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Associate degree in civil engineering technology, surveying, CAD drafting, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.

  • 0–3 years of experience in civil engineering, surveying, or construction fieldwork.
