Bietigheim-Bissingen Park

Overland Park, Kansas

CFS Engineers was the lead civil engineer for the new 6.5-acre Bietigheim-Bissingen Park, with a quarter-mile multi-use trail loop and a boardwalk through the creek area that balances park access and minimal impact on the natural floodplain. Park amenities include restrooms, a playground, gazebos, a trellis, and a public parking lot. The drainage design features an underground storm sewer system with permanent best management practices to preserve stormwater quality. CFS designed water and sewer service for the restrooms and the park’s irrigation system. Our team managed planning through construction, including traffic and drainage studies, and permitting coordination with Overland Park and utility providers. We also handled construction administration, such as submittal review, site visits, and the final walkthrough.

This park recognizes Overland Park’s sister city in Germany, Bietigheim-Bissingen (pronounced BEE-tig-hime BISS-en-jen, or “Bi-Bi”), with a formal relationship established in 1999.
