14th Street Waterline
Eudora, Kansas
The 14th Street waterline project followed a water study conducted by CFS Engineers for the City of Eudora. To address low pressure and flows on the city's west side, the study analyzed various alignment options and modeled existing and proposed conditions. After the selected option was presented to and approved by the City of Eudora, the design process began to ensure the project's quality.
The waterline plans involved installing approximately 4,000 linear feet of 12" waterline through a fully developed area, extending from the 14th & Maple west water tower to Winchester Road. The design scope included installing and replacing existing services, as well as incorporating bends, crosses, tees, valves, reducers, anchor couplings, fire hydrants, and connections to the surrounding waterline system. Crucially, a cut-in valve was installed to maintain constant water service to a nearby nursing home during construction.
Coordination with utility companies was a vital component of this project. During the design phase, CFS also developed traffic control plans, erosion control plans, easement documents, and permit applications. Furthermore, CFS provided construction staking and inspection services throughout the installation.
