Summary
CFS Engineers offers subsurface exploration, field testing, laboratory testing and geotechnical engineering for a wide range of private and public projects that include: commercial, industrial, and public buildings; county and state bridges; city streets, county roadways, parking lots and airfield pavements; water storage and treatment facilities; cellular towers and other communication facilities; earthen dams, levees and lagoons; conventional, modular and tied back retaining walls; power generating and transmission facilities; as well as many other types of projects throughout Kansas and the surrounding states.

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Geotechnical Engineer or EIT to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing soil, rock, and other earth materials to determine their physical and chemical properties and their suitability for construction and infrastructure projects. You will play a key role in designing foundations, retaining walls, slopes, tunnels, and other geotechnical elements.
Responsibilities

Conduct site investigations, field testing, and laboratory analysis of soil, rock, and groundwater conditions.

Perform geotechnical analysis and design for foundations, earthworks, slope stability, and retaining structures.

Prepare technical reports, geotechnical recommendations, and design calculations.

Interpret geotechnical data to support infrastructure design and construction.

Collaborate with civil, structural, and environmental engineers on multidisciplinary projects.

Ensure compliance with relevant industry codes, standards, and environmental regulations.

Monitor construction sites to ensure geotechnical designs are being implemented correctly.

Assist in preparing project proposals, cost estimates, and timelines.
QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).

Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain it is a plus.

2+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering or related roles.

Proficiency with geotechnical analysis software.

Strong understanding of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and slope stability.

Excellent communication, report writing, and project management skills.

​Willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
Preferred Skills

Experience with deep foundation design and ground improvement techniques.

Knowledge of environmental regulations and geotechnical risk assessments.

Familiarity with GIS and CAD tools (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.).
